Filming for the latest series of the award-winning ITV drama Foyle's War returned to Midhurst along with the star of the show, Michael Kitchen.
Film crews took up their positions centre-stage in pouring rain on Monday in Church Hill, which was coned off to traffic for the day.
There was a hasty make-over of the war memorial to hide its world war two inscriptions and suddenly the street wa
s transported back in time to 1945.
"The day comprised mainly of exterior driving scenes and a couple of dialogue scenes," said Alison Willett of Greenlit Rights which produces the series.
"We were filming part of episode two of the three-episode new series which explores the issue of black GIs stationed in Britain."
Foyle's War was last filmed in Midhurst in 2006 when scenes in Church Hill and at the war memorial were used for series five.
Small groups of fans braved the elements as filming continued in the rain between the parish church and Church Cottage.
Michael Kitchen arrived in the afternoon and most of the action took place at the Swan Inn.
The principal scene saw the star as Superintendent Foyle cruising down from the war memorial in his car.
