ORGANISERS of the Petworth Christmas Lights switch-on celebrations are appealing for help in putting up the festive decorations before the event on December 6.
Chairman of the organising committee Janet Duncton told fellow parish councillors: "We are desperately in need of helpers from throughout the town and we are hoping traders will not only take part in the window competition, but will also come out and
help us on Sunday mornings in November to help us put up the lights."

She said the window-dressing competition would be judged on December 13 and 14 after the Christmas lights ceremony which centres on the Square in Petworth and is expected to attract the traditional large crowd again this year.

Organisers have not yet revealed the name of the celebrity who will perform the switching on ceremony for the town.
