Our round-up of local bowling greens is as extensive as ever, with news and results from 11 different clubs.
ALDINGBOURNE
Playing away to Worthing-based Grasshoppers in a five-rink triples friendly, Aldingbourne won on four of the five rinks for a 92-73 win.
In a four-rink triples friendly at home to Norfolk, Aldingbourne won 75-52.
Away to Bognor, Aldingbourne went down to a heavy defeat losing 126-37.
In another four-rink triples game, Aldingbourne won by a narrow margin of 71-59 against West Tarring.
In the BM Triples League, a very close match saw Aldingbourne win by just one shot against Wittering. It ended 40-39.
In an away fixture against Pagham men in the LG League, Aldingbourne took seven of the ten points, winning on two and drawing on one of the four rinks. The score was 80-72.
A three-rink friendly at home to Storrington saw Aldingbourne win 93-39.
In the PC Cup away to Wittering men, Aldingbourne knew they had a fight on their hands – and so it proved going down on all four rinks losing by 57 shots, the score 98-41.
WITTERINGS
Witterings 85 Fishbourne 51
Witterings played a mixed friendly at home to Fishbourne and won on three rinks.

Witterings Ladies 41 Bognor Ladies 47
Witterings lost in the C&M League away to Bognor but won on one rink and gained two points.
Scores: J Edwards, M Aylward, B Newman, C Horsley (s) won 26-17, A Andrew, M Mulligan, C Tuffin, P Lillywhite (s) lost 30-15.
Chichester 124 Witterings 85
Witterings Men played away at Chichester in a triples men's friendly, winning on three rinks and losing on three. Chichester were overall winners.

Hurstpierpoint 9 Witterings 26
Witterings ladies played in the Gladys Rowland Cup at Hurstpierpoint Bowling Club and had a good win.
The next round will be played at home against St Francis at the Princess Royal Hospital.
Scores: A Andrew, M Corbett, M Aylward, C Horsley (s) won 26-9.
Witterings 72 Beach House Park 72
Witterings ladies played away in the Top Club competition against Beach House Park.
It was a draw, so the pairs, triples and rinks all had to play an extra end to get a winning result. Witterings won 2-1 to go through to the next round.

Witterings Ladies 60 Worthing Pavilion Ladies 24
Witterings played at home in the C&M League against Worthing Pavilion and won by 36 shots, gaining six points.

PAGHAM
The ladies picked up four points when they beat Aldingbourne 41-37 in the CM League.
Scores: Diana Mitchell, Carol Penny, Sheila Stocker, Pam Robinson beat C Mulholland, B Cunningham, E Taylor, B West 29-12, Beverly Quilter, Iris Brooker, Chris Mayoss, Maureen King lost 25-12 to S Carter, P Wyatt, L Hathaway, M Richards.
Two rinks friendly also played, winning 52-29.
Scores: Gay Stewart, Judy Warner, Doreen Ellis, Joan Pearce won 34-13, Sylvia Pugh Patsy Vinter, Mary Donaldson, Gill Dart won 18-16.
Pagham men were hosts to Middleton in a four-rink league game, picking up three points in a 77-72 loss.

Flansham 'Farmers' came to Pagham for a four-triple friendly. Flansham were delighted to earn their first win away at the venue in a 66-57 triumph.

Pagham ladies picked up four points when they played in the C&M League at Norfolk, winning 42-33
Scores: Sabina Livermore, Iris Brooker, Chris Mayoss, Maureen King won 24-10, Carol Penny, Janet Boucher, Sheila Stocker, Shirley Hart lost 23-18.
One friendly rink and one friendly triple were played at Norfolk, but lost 38-23.
Scores: Jacki Sales, Joyce Ival Dean, Pam Robinson lost 18-9, Sylvia Pugh, Patsy Vinta, Betty Williams, Eileen Shine lost 21-14.
This Sunday, Pagham will hold the Pagham Open. Some 96 bowlers from across Sussex will enter one of the most popular opens in the area.
Visitors will be made welcome.
SOUTHBOURNE
Leigh Park 95 Southbourne 66
Southbourne had a slow start and Leigh Park and managed to win on only one of five triples.

Southbourne 77 Graffham 31
Southbourne played a friendly at home to Graffham and won on all three greens.

Southbourne's ladies had a very enjoyable Captain's Day organised by Lillian Prior. The overall winner was Margaret Baylis.

Southbourne men had a successful afternoon at Wittering in a Littlehampton Gazette League match, winning on three out of the four rinks.

At Bognor, Southbourne men failed to reach the next round of the Littlehampton Gazette PC Cup.

Two rinks and four triples travelled to St Mary Bourne near Andover for a friendly, having met the club last year when their tour brought them to Fishbourne.

In the Midhurst Cup, two triples at Home and two away with Fishbourne winning against Stedham by 27 shots. The second round is against Petersfield.
Scores: J Conway, M Keane, P White won 29-8, E Keane, G Jefkins, P Winter lost 19-11, P Green, F Heil, L Kneale won 25-9, S Jones, T Gaffney, K Burt drew 17-17.
PETWORTH
Petworth enjoyed a good win at Pulborough, winning on all four rinks for a final score of 79-63.
Scores: W Bryder, K Mitchell, G Allen won 26-16, C Peacock, S Allen, E West won 15-14, C Stevens, M Bacon, A Jordan won 20-18, P Herrington, R Fenton, B Walsh.
Petworth hosted Grasshoppers and won on four out of five rinks. The overall score was 74-69 to Petworth.

CRABLANDS
Crablands 72 Fishbourne 96
Crablands played host to Fishbourne with five triples but were outbowled on three of the rinks. Winning one triple gave the hosts two points.

Witterings 72 Crablands 95
Crablands achieved a good result at Witterings, winning on three rinks and drawing on the other. Top rink for Crablands was Derek Adams' one.
Scores: D Jonas, L Dray, A Humphreys, M Heasman won 25-18, C Garland, D Eggleton, E Potz, D Adams won 26-16, L Lewendon, M Clements, J Saunders, A Blyth won 24-16, R Osborn, A Gilling, J Brown, D Muncey drew 20-20.
Crablands held their men's two-wood day, with very close games in all rounds. The victors, who will meet on finals day, are Derek Clacey and Les Jewiss.
Derek Adams played an exciting game against Anthony Batchelor of Arundel in the county singles quarter-final. In a very close game Derek picked up a four to draw even at 16-16, only to drop a three and two on the next two ends.
A Crablands ladies' team of Marion Brown, Val Dudman and Joan Lindley played at Chichester in their open.
After beating Fishbourne, Arundel and East Preston, they we declared the overall winners for the afternoon.
Crablands played Southwick in the Top Club competition and won three rinks to one. With an overall shot difference of 16 shots, they are into the next round where they will meet East Preston.

* The ladies played their drawn pairs on a lovely summer's day, with the temperatures in the high 70s. The two teams who will meet in the final are Jackie Rawlins and Lyn Carrie and Carol Bowles and Lil Tick.
FITTLEWORTH
Away to Tarring Priory, Fittleworth lost 53-47.
Scores: Muriel Cook, Alvar Etherington, Sue Judd lost 21-14, Ron Jones, Tony, Gina Barnfield lost 21-14, Pauline Gilpin, Peter Cook, Alan Jordan won 19-11.
At home to Storrington, Fittleworth won 54-49.
Scores: Pat Perry, Michael Ryan, Sue Judd lost 18-8, Muriel Cook, Norman Goodyer, Bernard Adsett won 29-15, Pauline Gilpin, Peter Cook, Michael Gander won 17-16.
STEDHAM
In the Three Counties League, Stedham A lost at home to Liphook 5-0 and by nine shots in division one, while Stedham B lost at Frensham 4-1 by two shots in division three.
Stedham visited Midhurst for a friendly winning on two rinks by three shots, losing the other by 13 shots and losing the match by seven shots.
CHICHESTER
Chichester 133 Little Spain 81
Chichester had the better of a high-scoring mixed friendly at home to Little Spain and finished the winners by 52 shots.

Chichester led from the start of their mixed friendly match against visitors Leigh Park. The away side left their comeback a little too late leaving Chichester the victors by 25 shots.

Chichester entertained six triples from the Witterings in a friendly match. The home team produced three good wins and suffered three narrow defeats to give Chichester the overall advantage by 37 shots with Mike Bayfield's trio winning by 27 shots. Bognor Regis 69 Chichester 87
Chichester visited Bognor Regis for a friendly match. Three of the rinks were close but a 17 shot victory by Alan Bowler's four was virtually the difference between the two sides as Chichester were triumphant by 18 shots.

Chichester won by nine shots away at Arundel in the second round of the County Double fours but this was offset by a ten shot loss at home so Chichester were knocked out by just one shot.
Scores: (home) S Tooley, D Schofield, A Anderson, C Knight lost 26-16; (away) P Whale, C Porter, J Heasman, M Page won 21-12.
Chichester 43 East Preston 36
Chichester had opened up a nine shot lead after 13 ends of their National Club Two Fours match against East Preston but the next four ends went East Preston's way to put the visitors five shots ahead.
However, Chichester fought back over the remaining ends to win the match by seven shots.

Worthing Pavilion 69 Chichester 78
Chichester travelled to Worthing Pavilion to take on the holders of the P C Industrial Products Cup. The first nine ends were very close with the visitors holding a one shot lead but the next two ends saw Chichester open up an 11 shot advantage.
Pavilion pulled back and after 15 ends they had taken the lead by six shots. Chichester edged back into the game and with a good 19th end they went six shots ahead and they held their nerve over the last two ends to win by nine shots.

MIDDLETON
In a Littlehampton Gazette league match v Maltravers, away, Middleton won on one rink, but went down heavily on the other three.

In a friendly match v West Tarring at Middleton, the scores were very friendly too.
