Boxgrove Primary School has been celebrating following a glowing Oftsed report.
Inspectors said the school had a number of outstanding features including pupils' 'exemplary' behaviour and the excellent curriculum.
The report noted that by the end of Year Six, pupils achieved well in English, mathematics and science and many of them worked at levels above those expected for their age.
These, and good achievement in other subjects, meant pupils had excellent life skills and were extremely well-prepared for their next stage of education.
Inspector David Collard said headteacher Andrew Simpson had been instrumental in building high levels of confidence among parents and staff and had ensured the school had made good improvements since the last inspection.
All staff worked closely to ensure pupils received a good balance of experiences.
Pastoral support was described as outstanding.
Inspectors gave the school the second-highest overall grading of Good.
The report did outline some improvements which needed to be made. It needed to work on increasing the number of pupils gaining higher levels in writing, especially in Years 1 and 2, and had to improve the role of the whole governing body so it was actively involved in becoming a 'critical friend'.
Headteacher Mr Simpson said: "Pupils are very proud of their school and are eager and willing to share all of their experiences.
"The inspectors acknowledge all pupils have an excellent understanding about how to stay fit, healthy and safe.
"Credit was also given to the superb teamwork of the whole staff which ensures that 'pastoral support is outstanding and contributes to pupils' excellent personal development'."
