A Chichester based charity has found a way to help the victims of cyclone Nargis.
All funds donated to Children on the Edge for the victims of cyclone Nargis will benefit the Emergency Assistance Teams (EAT-BURMA) who have managed to secure channels for aid and Burmese personnel to cross the border into the worst affected areas.
EAT is a coalition of Burmese grassroots organisations based on the Thai-Burma border.
They are working with networks of local organisations and concerned individuals in Burma to get food, water, cooking equipment, shelter, clothing, health services and rehabilitation to those most in need.
This will be provided directly to affected communities.
The EAT teams are working with a team of about 40 people on the ground, each of which is working with their own network of local organizations and people.
Rachel Bentley, director of Children on the Edge, said: "We knew such efforts were being organised but we wanted to wait before making any commitment to ensure the channels they had into the country were secure and that aid was reaching those in need.
"After one week of operation we are confident of this. Our team based on the border has been monitoring their progress."
Children on the Edge, based in Chichester, is urgently seeking funds to help the victims of cyclone Nargis.
We are calling to our local community to take action by making a donation. Donations can be made via the Children on the Edge
website.
