A WOMAN said she thought she was going to die after emergency services spent an hour cutting her free from a car crash.
Laura Morgan from Bosham was on her way from her office in Bognor Regis to Chichester to start work when her stationary car was shunted forward into oncoming traffic.
The 25-year-old carer had her legs trapped in the footwell and suffered bruising
and whiplash. She said she is now suffering from flashbacks and is nervous being a passenger in a car. Fire and rescue crews had to cut off the roof of her car to get her out.
"I do not know why the traffic stopped," she said, "but I was just about to pull away in first gear and I glanced in my mirror and saw a car coming up behind me.
"It ploughed into me, pushed my car forward, and then I was spun into oncoming traffic.
"It was horrendous – I thought I was going to die."
Miss Morgan had just got her car back before the crash, which happened on Friday October 17, after having a faulty accelerator pedal fixed, which cost her £200.
She said: "I was really quite worried after the crash as I could smell burning – I thought the car was going to catch on fire.
"The firemen were really reassuring – they told me the smell was just my air bag activating. One of the paramedics stayed with me the whole time. They were all really good.
"It was just a shock. It was the sound of all the crashing – it all happened so quickly.
"Everybody who has seen pictures of the car thought I would have died in it.."
Two other people, including Miss Morgan, were taken to St Richard's Hospital in Chichester after the accident, which happened on the A259 Bognor Road next to Pat's Cafe.
Fire crews spent an hour cutting her out of the car.
Police are investigating the incident.
