Go Create was the invitation – and that's precisely what more than 200 people did in Chichester over the weekend.
Saturday and Sunday saw the birth of Go Create, a new community arts event masterminded by Chichester High School for Girls.
The idea was to offer the chance to create artworks on location which reflect Chichester and the surrounding environment, inspiring you to produce your own personal piece of art.
Saturday saw events at the Chichester Canal Basin and at Pallant House Gallery, and Sunday switched venues to Chichester Cathedral Cloisters and the Guildhall, Priory Park.
Both the Pallant House workshops were filled to capacity. the Canal Basin attracted about 60 people, and the Sunday venues brought in around 60 to 80 people each – a bright start for a new initiative.
Philip Riley, head of art at the school, said: "It was all very exciting.
"What was really nice was we had such a variety of work, adults, children, people with learning difficulties.
"It covered a wide range of abilities."
Go Create now offers three exhibitions:
n Pallant House Gallery, June 28-July 6. Artwork from selected West Sussex primary schools working with Chichester High School for Girls and inspired by Chichester and its local environment.
n Cathedral Cloisters, July 1-13. An exhibition of works by adult artists from Go Create!
n Administration Gallery, Chichester High School For Girls, Kingsham Road July 1-11, 9.15am-3pm, Monday-Friday. An exhibition of works by young people from Go Create!
