Pedal power gets a boost in Chidham
PEDAL power has been given a boost in Chidham thanks to the installation of cycle posts in the village.
The Friends of Chichester Harbour, with help from the harbour conservancy, have installed cycle posts next to the two bus stops in Chidham.
The chairman of the Friends, Martin Rhodes, explained the posts will help encourage Chidham and Hambrook residents to leave their cars at home, cycle to the bus stop and travel to Chichester or Havant by bus.
"We are also placing cycle posts at eight other selected sites around the harbour adjacent to favourite walks so visitors can cycle, leave their bicycles and then walk," he said.
"The posts are solid oak with inlaid steel strips and are designed to blend in with the natural environment."
