Drainage works along some of Aldingbourne's busiest roads will start next week.
The project at Church Farm and along Hook Lane and Nyton Road will start on Monday, September 1.
The work will be carried out in three phases. These start with Church Farm and finish in Nyton Road.
The £63,000 scheme will involve installing new
pipes and gullies, with maintenance work on the drainage system.
Cllr Derek Whittington, West Sussex County Council's cabinet member for strategic planning and transport, said: "We apologise for any inconvenience, but this is an important drainage scheme designed to prevent flooding."
The work will take place Monday to Friday from 7.30am to 5.30pm for up to seven weeks, weather permitting.
Hook Lane will be closed for its phase of work and there will be diversion routes via the B2233 and A29. Advanced warning signs have been put up.
Temporary three-way traffic lights will be put up at the junction of Nyton Road and Oving New Road when the work moves on to its last phase.
The lights will be taken down at the end of each working day whenever possible.
