Gardner's Lament

Bless that sunshine out of doors.

Got to do some garden chores.

Gird my ageing loins about.

Much to do, of that no doubt!

Try to lift the compost sack,

Pull a muscle in my back!

Find the shears too blunt- too bad.

Put away my kneeling pad.

Slash the everlasting thistles,

Now my arms are full of prickles!

Cut my finger, stub my toe,

(Say a naughty word I know!)

No good weeding- finger hurt.

Drop my bandage in the dirt.

Felling dismal- can't stop sniffing

'Cos my nose has started dripping.

Gardening used to be such fun-

Think I'll just sit in the sun.
