Muddied Mirrors of Glory
Aaah...that midsummer swoon of yellow roses
When desire stopped holding our horses.
Sharp memories of the sweet softness
Of words, gaze and touch on an evening
Perfumed with promise, too much aftershave
And a galvanic hint of musk.
Ouch....Monty donned to telegenic radiance,
Some gardens pose as paradises.
Others, closer to home, are adrift with
Our blood, sweat and tears,
Yielding a never-so-few, weedy harvest.
No D-Day in sight with this weather!
Sob...for Eden's pre-Adam purity
Before disobedience snaked slyly in;
For Gethsemane's Iscariot moment
When betrayal bloomed blood-red;
For the Third Day garden of womanly tears
Wiped dry on the Gardener's divine authority.
