Police taser man in Chichester
POLICE had to taser a man after he escaped from mental health workers who were attempting to detain him in Chichester.
Police said the mental health services were trying to section at an address in the city yesterday morning, Friday, February 17, but had left.
He was later found outside the Globe pub next to Chichester train station at midday, but refused to be detained by socail workers and medics, which is when the police were called for assistance.
The 42-year-old man would not cooperate with police, who followed him to the nearby job centre in Avenue De Chartres at 1pm where he resisted attempts to be detained and began threatening officers and members of the mental health team.
Police said he was tasered to prevent him harming himself and others, and then taken to a secure mental health unit.
