Thanks for support

ON SUNDAY, February 5, the annual Chichester 10k Road Race took place for the 21st time. This road race attracts about 2,000 entries with many local running clubs represented as well as some of the country’s best long-distance runners.

The race is organised by the Rotary Club of Chichester Priory with significant help from other local Rotary Clubs, Round Table, the cadets from CHSB, local scouts and guides and many friends and relations. The police and councils are also very supportive and helpful in the staging of this event. Proceeds of the race allow Rotary to support many of our local charities as well as international charities such as Polio Eradication.

The race itself is run on Chichester, Westhampnett and Lavant Roads and in total lasts about one and a quarter hours. Inevitably there is some traffic disruption during the race time including some road closures and we thank the local residents for putting up with any delays. To minimise any inconvenience to motorists we do publicise in a number of ways the ‘hotspots’ well in advance and of course, we apologise for any untoward disruption we may have caused.

We thank you for your patience and understanding and please be assured this is an event which not only raises Chichester’s profile as a sporting city but also raises substantial income for charity.

Bob Syme

President,

The Rotary Club of Chichester Priory
