TASTY cakes were on sale among the kitchen, gardening and DIY gear in Chichester’s Homebase on Friday.

The sale of sweet treats raised £378 for the family of Finley Fairs, who are fighting to get the six-year-old a vital operation to help him walk again.

Tony Russell, who works at the store on Barnfield Drive, organised the event in aid of the brave youngster, who needs £24,000 for selective dorsal rhizotomy, a procedure that helps reduce the increased muscle tone and spasticity caused by Finley’s form of cerebral palsy.

Mr Russell, who works in Homebase’s customer services department, thanked his co-workers for their generosity. “They were incredibly supportive,” he said. “I would like to thank the staff; they donated a lot of money.”

The family are well on their way to their target after a series of fundraising events in recent months which have helped boost the total to £9,240.92.
