YAPTON Lane was closed for more than an hour this morning (Tuesday, August 4), after a fire broke out.
Fire crews from Arundel, Chichester, Bognor and Littlehampton were called to a farm building in the Walberton road at 5.40am, and the road was closed, in both directions, soon afterwards,

A large shed, used to store furniture, and attached to a barn was alight, and asbestos in the roof was affected by the fire.

It took around two hours to bring the blaze, which left the building 20 per cent damaged by fire and smoke, under control, and to damp down the hot spots.

A spokesman for West Sussex Fire and Rescue said the cause of the blaze was under investigation.

Yapton Lane re-opened just before 8.30am.
