RESIDENTS have reacted with horror to the news that police found the body of a woman in a Horsham flat on Saturday night (March 22).
Flowers have been placed at the entrance to Godwin Court, in Jockey Mead, where forensic officers continued the investigation at 10.15am this morning (Monday March 24).
Police have cordoned off the block of flats in Blackbridge Lane and Jockey Mead and a blue forensics tent has been erected on the grass outside.
The news has sent ripples of shock through the local community.
Insurance broker Ross Weldon, 57, of Rookwood Park, Horsham, said he and his family were horrified.
"It's horrendous," he said.
"Absolutely horrible.
"My daughter's boyfriend lives nearby and he called to say somebody had been murdered.
"Even one murder a year is too many."
A local pensioner and friend of the victim asked not to be named.
She said: "It makes you feel sick.
"She was such a wonderful woman and wouldn't hurt a fly.
"I can't imagine how somebody could do something like this.
"We've got kids in this neighbourhood and they are scared.
"It's disgusting."
