A LEAN, green recycling machine, which separates and eats up most household waste, is being installed at Tesco's store at Broadbridge Heath.
The machine copes with waste including aluminium and steel cans, plastic bottles and glass bottles and jars.

Horsham youngsters are now being urged to promote its benefits. Primary schoolchildren could win £500 for their school and £100 for themselves before Christmas if they come up with a special snappy slogan or poem about the benefits of recycling and caring for the environment.

The all-in-one Recycling Centre will complement existing recycling facilities on site, such as separate units for the removal of cardboard, shoes, newspaper etc.

The £150,000 machine, designed by Scandinavian engineers, will also 'talk' to customers through a combination of audio and visual guidance on a special screen.

For comprehensive coverage of all the stories making the local news, read Friday's edition of the West Sussex County Times newspaper. Visitors to www.wscountytimes.co.uk who wish to purchase a copy of the County Times newspaper but live outside our circulation area can do so by telephoning 01403 751200 and asking for reception. The cost of the newspaper plus postage in England is £1.53 which can be paid for by credit card. Overseas rates are also available, on request.
