A DRIVER was taken to hospital with serious leg injuries following a three vehicle crash on the A281 near Bucks Green today (Thursday November 15).

The man was transported to East Surrey Hospital in Redhill after firefighters freed him from his red Rover.

He was driving towards Guildford when he was involved in a head on collision with a silver Toyota travelling towards Horsham.

A yellow Astra van later became embroiled in the crash.

The police helicopter landed in a nearby field as the dramatic rescue mission by firefighters and paramedics unfolded.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service was called to the scene at 2.25pm, arriving at 2.40pm to free the man from his car.

The driver of the silver Toyota suffered minor injuries.

Four police cars, three fire engines, three ambulances and a simcas doctor from Handcross were dispatched to the scene.

Road closures were put in place and extensive traffic delays were expected.
