CAMPAIGNERS have warned the fight is not over to save St Richard's hospital from being downgraded, despite the seal of approval from the primary care trust board yesterday.
Although the board unanimously voted for the recommendation the decision still has to jump several hurdles, and a judicial review brought by Chichester District Council before the plan is implemented.
The Support St Richard's campaign team have urged the public and staff at the hospital to continue protesting as they believe the decision is completely flawed.
Campaign leader Abigail Rowe: "I think that the PCT were rather surprised by the response they got from one of the consultants from St Richard's who stood up and said they are not going to have a health service at St Richard's soon because people will leave.
"They are not going to want to work there in a downgraded hospital, they are already being head hunted by hospitals outside the county."
