There's something oh-so-French about this charmingly-forgettable French romantic comedy.
It's like French Kiss meets Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, with an added genuinely-Gallic lightness which lets it float away.
Jean is a hardworking employee at one of southern France's elite resort hotels - but when romance comes his way, he's seduced into passing himself off as a millionaire, all in the hope of impressing sexy Irene, a girl bored by her mega-rich sugar-daddy.
The trouble for Jean is that she's mega-miffed once his ruse is seen through. The problem is that she's even more on the make than he is, a professional who charms her way to a life of luxury.
Can he win her back, with nothing but life's finer sentiments to offer her?
The characters really aren't particularly attractive when you think about it, so perhaps it's best not to. Far better to enjoy the glitzy games they play among riches they can only aspire to. The result is fun enough while it lasts.
