REVIEW: McFly, Brighton Centre

As a lover of all things indie, McFly are my guilty pleasure. A room full of teenage girls, high-pitched screams and glowing bunny ears is a far cry from the muddy fields of Glastonbury, but when the opportunity arose to see McFly I couldn't resist.

When we arrived at the venue, the queue stretched around the block and to my surprise, when we got inside, I wasn't the oldest person!

The McFly boys burst onto stage in a frenzy of fireworks, flashing lights and smoke. In the hour and a half the boys played, we heard songs from the new album including the Children in Need single Do Ya and some of McFly's classic tunes like Obviously and my personal fave All About You which proved to be a hit with the crowd and one fan in particular with a good aim – whose rather large pink bra landed on Danny's guitar during Star Girl.

McFly sang and played their instruments near on perfection and provided the crowd with a thoroughly-entertaining night. However, one of my favourite moments would have to be when my other half – who begrudgingly gave up a night in front of the box- turned to me and shouted in my ear "McFly rock!" which goes to prove the boys music appeals to all ages.

Since the boys hit the music scene three and a half years ago, they've racked up four albums, had fifteen top ten hits and formed an army of dedicated fans. When the encore was over, I and a few thousand others were definitely left wanting more. My eyes and ears are now peeled waiting for the next McFly tour!
