A27 traffic at a standstill

Speed was not of the essence this morning as motor enthusiasts queued for miles to get to the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Tailbacks stretching back as far as six miles were reported, although the traffic did not take long to filter along.

While the A27 ground to a standstill, surrounding country roads including the B2155 past Funtington were a lot quieter, with just a handful of cars queueing along St Paul's Road.

Around 150,000 people are expected to flock to the event this weekend which will feature reigning F1 Champion Lewis Hamilton and top of the leaderboard for this season, Jenson Button.
