VIDEO: It's legs versus horsepower

A team of soliders based at Thorney Island proved they were as quick as the best car on the grid when they carried a car to the top of the hillclimb for charity.

The added challenge was that it was an against the clock race with the whole supercar class of 36 vehicles which can make it to the top of the hill in 15 minutes.

The soldiers, from 12th Regiment (Royal Artillery) are hoping to raise at least 10,000 for charities Help for Heroes and Children With Leukaemia.

The challenge, which started after lunch, was organised by BP Ultimate Fuel which is running a campaign to show motorists how they can make their car go further by driving in a more environmentally friendly way. BP plays a big part in the festival, sponsoring the Festival of Speed technology centre FoS-Tech.

Crowds can see this challenge for a second time when it takes place at 1.25pm on Sunday (July 5).
