A PHOTOGRAPH of the Royal West Sussex Regiment in India has recently come to light.
A R Saunders, from Walberton, sent the picture to the paper after discovering it when going through the family records.
The print shows the officers and NCOs of the regiment, when it was stationed at Karachi.
The battalion also served on the Khyber Pass.
At the time of the photograph, the regiment was under the command of Lieutenant Colonel RM Birkett, later promoted to colonel, who is buried in St George’s Chapel, Chichester Cathedral.
