Debbie Maslen, was only nine years old when she lost her mother to breast cancer. She also lost her grandmother to cancer and her sister died from leukaemia.

Debbie, of Theobalds Road, hopes by taking on the brave challenge she can raise vital funds for The Royal Marsden Hospital in London, which is dedicated to cancer research.

She said: "I visit the Royal Marsden every year as part of a screening programme and cancer research and the treatment of cancer is close to my heart.

"Whilst I am very excited about the trip, I have been warned about being very seasick as we will take nearly three days to travel through the most ferocious waters in the world known as Drakes Passage, which is the body of water from Cape Horn to the Antarctic Peninsula."
