Previously Charles has taken part in charitable walks through the Channel Tunnel, up Mount Kinabalu in Borneo and then in the Hannibal Challenge over the French Alps.
Each time he has been attired in a manner that befits a city gent – dark suit, bowler hat, umbrella and a copy of the Financial Times.
His latest venture has a new twist to it. Suitably attired, he will mount his 21-year-old touring cycle to take part in The Big Battlefield Bike Ride organised by the charity Help the Heroes in a bid to raise £6m to help seriously injured servicemen from the campaigns in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The ride will follow a route in the UK and through northern France. In France alone it will cover 320 miles and the schedule will involve distances of up to 75 miles a day.
The ride takes place between May 26 and June 1.
