A huge variety of musical styles and concerts is promised in The Hawth's Classical Concert Series 2008-2009.
The season kicks off with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra presenting Carmina Burana on Sunday November 2 at 7.30pm.
Hawth spokeswoman Lorraine Gould said: "This blazingly-dramatic masterpiece will be performed alongside Beethoven's Egmont Overtur
e. This music of great pathos was written for Goethe's stormy drama and has become a popular concert work in its own right. The equally popular, Mozart's Piano Concerto No 21 will also be performed."
Also coming up in the season are:
An Afternoon With Emma Johnson, Sunday January 11 at 3pm. The programme features music written for Emma by John Dankworth as well as her own medley from Bernstein's West Side Story, created with pianist John Lenehan.
Romantic Classics, Saturday February 14, 7.30pm. The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra offers an evening of romantic orchestral favourites for Valentine's Day.
The Mystery Of Tchaikovsky's Death, Saturday February 14, 2.30-5pm. Lecturer Terry Barfoot will explore the composer's last years and the music of his greatest symphony.
4 Girls & 4 Harps, Saturday March 14, 7.30pm. A rare opportunity to hear four harps together, played by some of Britain's most talented musicians.
