String Theory Cello Ensemble are promising a concert to remember on October 4 at St Michael's church, Amberley.
The programme, entitled Through Coloured Glass, is of Renaissance and Baroque music, and will include works by the English composers of the Renaissance as well as by some of the European greats including Palestrina, Victoria, Handel and Lassus. Som
e of the pieces are sacred compositions, others secular. All the music was originally written for unaccompanied voices, but is suited to the cello which has an almost identical range.

String Theory Cello Ensemble was formed in 2006. The players - Annie Ashton, Una Birtchnell, Catherine Black and Fiona Murphy – are all experienced chamber and orchestral musicians. They will shortly be performing at the Chapel Royal, Brighton and at St Alfege's Church, Greenwich, the burial place of Thomas Tallis. More details on www.stringtheorycelloensemble.com.

Tickets (all for unreserved seats) cost £10 to include a glass of wine in the interval. All proceeds will go to Church funds. You can book now with John Sessions, at Brooklyn Cottage, The Alley, Amberley, West Sussex BN18 9NG (telephone 01798 831164; e-mail lastjaf@mac.com), cheques payable please to J Sessions.
