Music from the Renaissance to the present day will be performed by Guildford Philharmonic in their newly-announced 2008-09 season.
The twelve concerts in the season will be performed in venues as diverse as the Victorian bandstand in Guildford Castle Gardens, the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre and Guildford Cathedral.

d Philharmonic season, in conjunction with the Guildhall Lunchtime Recitals series, offers the chance to hear some of this country's most brilliant young musicians in unique settings, as well as the return to Guildford of many of the most experienced orchestral and choral conductors and soloists."
Conductor Barry Wordsworth returns to Guildford for the first concert of the season: Great Orchestral Masterpieces (Guildford Cathedral, Friday October 10) featuring Tchaikovsky's Romeo & Juliet Fantasy Overture, Poulenc's Organ Concerto, Vaughan Williams' The Lark Ascending and Ravel's Daphnis & Chlöe Suite No.2. David Davies, sub-organist at Guildford Cathedral is the soloist in the Poulenc and Matthew Trusler is the solo violinist in the Vaughan Williams.
Another season highlight will see John Rutter return to Guildford to conduct a performance of his own Requiem with Emilia Young as the young soprano soloist (Rutter Conducts Rutter, Saturday November 8).
The Tallis Scholars return to Guildford Cathedral for a programme of Advent and Christmas music ending with Tallis' Mass (From Advent to Christmas, Saturday December 6)
And violinist Margaret Faultless brings her own group Music For Awhile to Guildford to perform Handel's Messiah in its original form. The concert is conducted by Laurence Cummings, a leading exponent of Handel, and the choir is the Guildford Camerata (Holy Trinity Church, Wednesday December 17).
