Chichester Camerata are now planning for the future after a successful first outing.
Chichester's new professional chamber orchestra, which comprises highly-able young professional musicians from London and the home counties, received rave reviews after its inaugural concert at St Paul's Church, Chichester in July - the venue for the
ir second performance.
Orchestra founder Michael Sullivan said: "The orchestra's next performance, Christmas Is Coming!, will be held within the conducive surroundings of St Paul's Church, Churchside, on Saturday November 29, commencing at 7pm, with a preceding Camerata Youth Showcase at 6.30pm, to which all are welcome.
"The Camerata Youth Showcase (6.30pm) will draw together the most able student string players from West Sussex to join the ranks of the Camerata for a masterclass and performance.
"With two virtuoso trumpeters, Katie Hodges and Jo Harris, who have adorned the ranks of London's major orchestras in recent years, performing a double trumpet concerto by Vivaldi, and Carmen Craven-Grew, who previously studied at the Yehudi Menuhin School of Music from a very young age, playing the Telemann Viola Concerto, the first half promises to be both exciting and hugely entertaining.
"The second half of the performance is set to beckon the Christmas season with its festive content; the Christmas Concerto (Corelli), Winter from the Four Seasons (Vivaldi) and songs sung by the nationally-recognised Central Singers."
The Chichester Pro Camerata have five performances planned over the coming months and will perform at the Chichester Festivities next summer for the first time.
The Camerata soloists, comprising leaders of the string sections of the orchestra, will perform Mozart's Clarinet Quintet (with soloist Jessica Townsend) and the Borodin String Quartet on Saturday February 7, again at St Paul's Church, Chichester.
