CHICHESTER District Council (CDC) is set to give £50,000 to the Weald and Downland Open Air Museum.
CDC’s cabinet recommended the council make the grant to go toward the museum’s £5.1m Gateway Project which will create new visitors’ facilities.
Myles Cullen, cabinet member for commercial services, said: “This is a very positive contribution. It’s an example of how you can contribute to thrive on the strengths of one of our biggest industries, which is tourism.”
£25,000 will come from CDC’s grants pot and £25,000 will come from reserves.
The Heritage Lottery Fund has granted £4m to the project and West Sussex County Council has granted £100,000.
