50-mile trek in aid of Macmillan

WALKER Graham Sutton has completed a 50 miles walk across the Lake District in aid of the Midhurst Macmillan service and is already close to his £1,500 target.

More than 100 of the 583 walkers dropped out as a thunderstorm and torrential rain made the going tough.

“The paths became fast-flowing streams,” said Graham who lives in Kirdford.

“Despite waterproofs, I was soon soaked to the skin, especially my feet. It was a real challenge to keep going and navigate the route through the night.”

Despite falling three times he finished the Lakeland50 in 18.5 hours.

“My motivation comes from my mother dying of cancer, one of my golfing partners, dying of cancer after a 12 years struggle, and a good friend with motor neurone disease is under Midhurst Macmillan’s care. I did it to raise money to help those who are no longer able to help themselves.” The money raised will go towards the Macmillan service which serves Midhurst, Bongor Regis, Chcihester and surrounding areas.
