Author to discuss new wartime book in Chichester

A DAUGHTER inspired by RAF Tangmere is giving a talk in Chichester on Tuesday (March 17).

Barbara Erskine will be at Waterstones, in West Street, at 6.30pm to talk about her latest novel The Darkest Hour.

It is inspired by her father’s experience flying Spitfires in the Battle of Britain.

Squadron Leader Nigel Rose was based in Sussex throughout the second world war and met and courted Barbara’s mother while stationed here.

Tickets are £3 including refreshments, available from Waterstones.

It has been described as a ‘fascinating evening exploring local history and how that inspired Barbara’s Sunday Times best-selling novel’.

Earlier in the day Barbara is heading to the Tangmere Aviation Museum to donate a copy of the book.
