MONTHS of building finished with a brilliant pink day.

The Russells Garden Centre, in Main Road, Birdham, held a grand opening for its new entrance, with Observer columnist Dawn Gracie on hand to officially cut the ribbon.

“It went brilliantly,” said owner Lesley Phillips. “The new entrance was really well received. Everyone was wowed by it. You come through the door to a Christmas wonderland.”

As thoughts turn to the festive season, four-metre-tall wicker reindeer are placed right by the new entrance to welcome people.

As well as the new opening, staff have spent the past two weeks in pink to raise money for the breast cancer campaign.

Lesley said staff and customers alike all donned pink attire – with even a feather boa spotted at one point.

The new opening has been hailed by Lesley.

“We’ve been doing it for months now. It’s lovely. It’s much more big and bright.”
