A 35-year-old man from Bognor Regis has appeared in court on a charge of obstructing the railway after an incident near a Chichester crossing last Friday.
A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman said: “Our officers were called to a crossing close to Chichester rail station on Friday, July 10, to reports of a trespass.
“The call came into police shortly before 7.40am.
“Officers from BTP and Sussex Police attended the scene. A 35-year-old man, from Bognor Regis, was arrested on suspicion of obstructing the railway, taken into police custody and interviewed under caution.
“He was subsequently charged with obstructing the railway and remanded in custody.
“The man appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, July 11, where he was further remanded in custody until Friday, July 31, pending a psychiatric assessment.”
