A NEW post office has opened its doors in Tangmere.
The newly-located store, which has transferred from nearby Boxgrove, opened on Thursday, August 8, and is located within the village’s One Stop store, in Tangmere Road.
The site has previously attracted controversy, with the store also mooted to be the home for a new pharmacy which was roundly rejected by residents.
The original post office, which was part of the Boxgrove village store, was closed amid acrimonious circumstances in February, after a temporary sub-postmaster was put in charge by the post office in November, 2012.
The new post office in Tangmere is open every day of the week, for a total of 59 hours, more than double the previous branch.
It has also been officially renamed from Boxgrove Post Office to Tangmere Post Office.
Post Office regional network manager for the south Will Russell said: “We are delighted to be reopening this post office.
“We understand how important having a post office is to residents in Tangmere and we are confident that the post office local service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.
Opening hours at the new location will be Monday to Sunday from 7am to 10pm.
Services offered by the new store include automated banking services and bill and budget payment schemes.
