POLICE are appealing for witnesses after two thieves posed as workmen to trick their way into a pensioner’s home.

The 65-year-old victim was visited at his home in Gilbert Road, Chichester, at about 2pm yesterday (August 21), by a man who said he needed to turn off the water supply because of an emergency.

The man said there was a leak in the flat above and took the victim into the kitchen to talk to him.

A second man then entered the flat and searched the property while the victim was distracted.

After they had left the pensioner discovered a small amount of money had been taken.

The first man the police are looking for is white, aged 20 to 25, 5’10” and slim. He was dressed smartly and was wearing a red baseball cap.

The second man was white, aged 40 to 50 and taller than the younger man. He was wearing a shirt and dark trousers.
