YOUNGSTERS will again have the chance to try their hand at a wide range of sports this weekend.
Bubble football, capoeira, boxing and racquet sports will be just some of activities on offer at the Get Active Festival, which takes place in Chichester on Sunday at Oaklands Park.
The event will run from 12 noon to 4pm and is a chance for people of all ages and abilities to try activities.
They can also meet representatives from the area’s sport and activity clubs and groups and ask any questions.
The Chichester District Council-run event is now in its 11th year and it has been the inspiration and launch pad for many of the area’s young sports people. It is also a great family day out with the opportunity to try mainstream and lesser known sports.
Councillor Eileen Lintill said: “It’s wonderful to see how much Get Active has grown over the years.
“It is always very popular and an excellent opportunity for families to try things together for free that they may not normally be able to experience.
“It doesn’t matter what your age is, or what your ability is, just give it a go.”
To coincide with Get Active, Chichester Rugby Football Club will also be attempting the World’s Longest Rugby Pass.
The attempt will start at Oaklands Park and the idea is for it to travel more than two and a half miles out to include the City Walls. People are encouraged to get involved and are asked to gather at the rugby club at 9.45am.
Event sponsors Great Ballard School, Oakwood School and Prebendal School will also be offering a range of activities.
