Budding reporters at Chichester High School for Boys
Reporters at the Observer could soon be welcoming some new colleagues to the newsroom.
As part of an Enterprise Media Day at Chichester High School for Boys, Observer editor Colin Channon asked students to write news articles based on their experience of the fast-paced day.
Emma Nichols, head of media studies, said: "The theme of the day was exploring news. The students were briefed on being a journalist and constructing good news by industry experts and then were set the task of creating real news reports themselves.
"The aim of the day was to get the students not only to explore news but to develop media, ICT and literacy skills. In addition to this the boys learnt to work as a team and meet strict time deadlines."
Each form group produced a range of multimedia news items including TV news shows, podcasts, set designs and newspapers.
Colin said he was impressed by the students' enthusiasm.
"The pupils were interested in all forms of the media, not just newspapers, which is important as reporters have to be able to film a video report as well as write news articles.
"There could definitely be some budding editors among the students."
The winning news report, entitled Enterprising Students Shine, was written by Year 9 pupil Aru Kathegesu.

An exceedingly successful media studies enterprise day took place at CHSB encouraging the independence of young students.
The day was based around using media and making podcasts and films, showing off the students' skills in these areas.
The day started off with Colin Channon from the Chichester Observer and Jeff Legg from the Portsmouth News giving the students an effective talk about journalism.
After being given a brief, the students got cracking.
Immediately they found a sense of teamwork and put their heads together to come up with interesting plots and scripts.
After a hard-working two periods and a well-earned rest during break the lads got filming and recording.
In flourishing fashion they finished up their filming, gave in their recordings to be edited and waited anxiously for the final product to be revealed to themselves and the rest of the year group.
As we all entered the hall to see the final product a sense of excitement rang around us all.
The films and podcasts proved to be incredibly productive and many laughs were shared.
Overall I believe the day was profitable for all the students and teachers. We have all learnt many different skills we will take through our lives.
