SANDWICH store Subway has confirmed it will open a store in South Street in June.
After strong reaction from readers on the Observer’s Facebook Page and on Twitter, the firm has announced its intentions to open its doors next month.
It will be moving into 29A South Street, a building earmarked by the council for a local produce shop – but the project failed to find a suitable tenant.
Mark Bradley, development agent for Subway South Coast in East & West Sussex, Hampshire & Isle of Wight, said: “We have been looking for a site in Chichester for a while now and are pleased to announce that we expect a new Subway store to open in the town in June 2014.
“The new store, which will create up to 15 jobs in the area, will be the fifth Subway store for local small business owners Jason and Louise Duff.
“This will add to their existing four Subway stores in the Hampshire area, which have created around 60 new jobs for region and provide local communities with a wide range of great value, healthier options to enjoy.”
