Jobs fair will match unemployed with local firms

A careers fair taking place aims to help local jobseekers get hired.

The Get Hired Portsmouth Careers Fair this week will help jobseekers find their next role at Portsmouth Football Club, Fratton Park.

Job hunters will be able to meet top local employers face-to-face to make a personal connection to businesses while browsing real jobs quickly and conveniently. Visitors can also find out about skills and training opportunities available in the area, and attend interview and CV technique seminars to help them secure their next role.

The event takes place on Thursday, June 13 from 11am until 4pm at Portsmouth Football Club, Fratton Park, Frogmore Road, Portsmouth, Hampshire, PO4 8RA. Top companies who will be showcasing their vacancies include the Royal Armouries, Lloyds TSB, Portsmouth Football Club, plus many other local organisations.

It’s being put on by the Observer’s sister paper, The Portsmouth News, as well as Jobstoday, which are part of Johnston Press PLC, one of the UK’s leading publishers of over 200 local newspapers and internet sites.

Joanne Harwood, group category manager at Johnston Press, said: “A job fair is a great opportunity for local candidates to find the job they’ve been looking for.

“By meeting face-to-face with top employers in a relaxed and informal setting, they are able to get a much better understanding of the business’ culture and the type of skills and experience needed for the roles advertised.

“We hope that many candidates will come along to take advantage of the wealth of advice on offer and to start making connections with potential future employers.”
