A SHOP owner has branched out from an international franchise to start her own independent store.

Eagle-eyed shoppers may have noticed things have changed in East Street, Chichester: what was the Oil and Vinegar shop is now called Zest for Taste.

The management and staff haven’t changed, however, as owner Katherine Gasnier has launched an independent venture.

The foodie haven stocks many of its classic products such as the oils, vinegars, bruschetta mixes and olives with a few new additions.

Owner Katherine, said: “Although we’ve changed the name and brought in a few great new products we want to let people know we are the same shop, with the same staff.

“The move to become an independent was scary but exciting.

“We’ve been here for eight years now so we’ve become well established and we have our customers who come in for a particular product on a regular basis.

“There are some fantastic suppliers in and around Chichester and we want to make the most of that.

“We already stock Sussex Valley products which are made in Chichester so we’d like to build on our work with business in the area.

“It’s nice for customers to be able to come in and suggest products they would like to see in the shop. It makes it a much more personal experience.”

So although the shop looks quite different from the outside – the signage has changed and the shop front has been repainted – many of the products inside are the same, so regular customers need not worry.
