SHOPPERS were greeted with a champagne reception at the opening of the newly-revamped M&S store in North Street, Chichester.

A total of 80 jobs have been created across the refurbished shop and its sister site in East Street, which underwent a similar transformation earlier this summer.

The store in North Street now has an additional 8,000sq ft of retail space which has seen an extension to its womenswear range and its layout.

The revamped first floor has additional childrenswear, lingerie and beauty products, with an expanded offering of leisurewear, footwear and gifts.

In addition, the East Street store has received strong feedback since its revamp which included its 114-seat cafe and improved bakery with food hall.

Store manager Brian Butcher believed the refurbishment had gone extremely well and praised the efforts of the firm’s 300 staff. He said: “We are thrilled to have completed our renovation programme by unveiling our bigger and better North Street store. The initial feedback from customers has been very positive.”
