A CRATE containing two dogs dumped by the side of the road was discovered in Hambrook.
The night after the Cavalier King Charles spaniels were found last month, the female gave birth to two puppies.
Chichester District Council has looked after the family for a few weeks.
“A driver spotted them and took them to our kennels and the next day we found they had given birth to two puppies,” said a spokeswoman from the council.
Sadly, one puppy passed away and it was ‘touch and go’ with the second, however it survived and the council has been looking for homes for them all.
