Car in Selsey set on fire deliberately, police believe

Police are appealing for information following damage to a car that was parked in Selsey.

Officers attended the scene on Saturday (May 19) at around 7.45pm to find the car on a driveway at The Causeway with fire damage, believed to have been caused deliberately.

Detective inspector Jim McKnight, from West Sussex CID, said: “This was a very unpleasant experience for the car owner who was alerted to the attack on her car when she heard two loud bangs. Thankfully her neighbour was able to quickly extinguish the small fires that had been ignited.

“We are still in the process of investigating why her car was targeted in this manner and would urge anyone who witnessed the incident or heard any suspicious activity to please contact us.

“We are particularly keen to hear from two teenage boys who were seen in the area at the time of the incident and may have information that could help us with our enquiries. They are described as white and were wearing dark clothing and hooded tops.”
