THE SPIKE in residents getting targeted by scams has led police and banks to team up to protect people.
Police in Chichester are teaming up with the city’s branches of Barclays and NatWest to give residents tips about types of fraids affecting residents.
Sergeant Craig Wilkie said: “This operation is to highlight the impact of courier fraud and gives us a chance for us to speak to those we don’t always reach via social media.
According to police, the most common fraud involves victims being phoned by someone claiming to be from their bank or the police. The caller tells the residents they are investigating cloned or stolen card fraud and tries to trick them into revealing their pin numbers and giving their cards to a courier who arrives at their door.
