A SHOP in Chichester will be ordered to remove its front signage which has been described as ‘tacky’ and an ‘eyesore’.
Phone repair and accessory store Mobile Hub, which opened on North Street last week, will be given a week to take down its eye-catching red signs.
A statement from Chichester District Council said: “We will be approaching Mobile Hub to ask it to remove its current signage within seven days.
“The signage does not have the appropriate advertisement consent and is not sensitive to its local environment.
“We will be providing Mobile Hub with advice on what is acceptable and will help them through the planning process.
“If the business does not respond to this request, then we will have no option but to take further action.”
A member of staff at Mobile Hub said they would comply with any requirement to take down the signs.
Last week we were contacted by one angry shopper about the new shop.
Anette Horne emailed saying: “I am writing to make you aware that I am shocked to see the above appear in the centre of our beautiful city.
“I am amazed that this shop frontage can be allowed....Surely the majority of Chichester residents and visitors will agree with me that this is not in keeping and will feel, like me, outraged at this awful, tacky shop frontage.”
