Chichester man airlifted after foot became trapped

A man had to be airlifted to hospital after his foot became trapped under an overturned tractor.

The accident happened on the tow path between Donnington and Birdham just before 12.25pm yesterday (Thursday, February 23).

The 62-year-old man was released by officers form West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (WSFRS) using airbags and taken to hospital by helicopter.

The small tractor was then righted and removed from the tow path by the fire and rescue crew helped by a farmer using farm machinery and lifting equipment.

Crews spent around an hour at the scene.

The accident was then left with a representative from the canal society.
