A GROUP of colleagues from Chichester are championing a festive drive to raise money in aid of a Sidlesham animal rescue centre throughout December.

The team at Specsavers Opticians and Hearing Centre, based at East Street, are collecting donations and gifts for the Cat and Rabbit Rescue Centre to support their ongoing work in the community.

Ellie-May Hilsdon, an audiometrician at Specsavers Chichester, said: “We all know that pets are not just for Christmas, but we wanted to shine a spotlight on rescue animals this festive season.

“We’re calling on all residents to support the many rescue animals in our area and the efforts of those who care for them.

“Whether you’re an animal-lover or not, we can all appreciate this special cause.”

As well as monetary donations, the store will also be accepting items such as toys, food and collars suitable for cats, rabbits and guinea pigs, which will be presented to the centre over Christmas.

The Cat and Rabbit Rescue Centre has rescued more than 10,000 animals since it opened in 1986.
