BOOKWORMS are delighted after a library extension was completed at North Mundham Primary School.
The school library used to be in two small spaces, including a corridor, but now the extension has provided a bigger space and entrance area with improved security.
The school governors have been saving money from its capital budget for three years to finance the project and had to think carefully whether to proceed in the current economic situation with pressure on school budgets.
Speaking to parents, it was clear the project would enhance provision for all the children at the school and it was important to go ahead.
Headteacher Julia Carey said: “It is great to have this lovely new resource. We must thank the parent teacher association who raised money for extra library furniture, and also parent helper Mrs Higgins, and Hilary Newman from West Sussex Schools Library Service who helped set it up.”
And what do the children think? Steph in Year 5 said: “It’s nice to work in.”
